چکیده

The sintering behaviour of a glass obtained by Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator (MSWI) bottom ash (WG) was investigated and compared with a Na2O–MgO–CaO–SiO2 composition (CG). The sintering activation energy, Esin, and the energy of viscous flow, E , were evaluated by dilatomeric measurements at different heating rates. The formation of crystalline phases was evaluated by Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transition Electron Microscopy (TEM). In CG, the sintering started at ≈1013 dPa s viscosity and Esin (245 kJ/mol) remains constant in the measured range of shrinkage, up to 9%. In WG the densification started at ≈1011 dPa s, Esin resulted to be 395 kJ/mol up to 5% shrinkage, 420 kJ/mol at 8% and 485 kJ/mol at 10% s 1 m ©

Leachability of Heavy Metals from Lightweight Aggregates Made with Sewage Sludge and Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Fly Ash

Lightweight aggregate (LWA) production with sewage sludge and municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash is an effective approach for waste disposal. This study investigated the stability of heavy metals in LWA made from sewage sludge and MSWI fly ash. Leaching tests were conducted to find out the effects of MSWI fly ash/sewage sludge (MSWI FA/SS) ratio, sintering temperature and sinteri...

A Case Study of the Microwave Sintering for the Stabilization of Mswi Fly Ash

Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash is generated in a significant amount; it is classified as hazardous waste in Taiwan. In order to reduce the volume of treated fly ash, a sintering technology can be considered. However, a traditional sintering consumes too much energy because of the limit of heat transfer. Hence, a microwave process which can provide quick, uniform, and selective heati...

Synthesis and Characterization of Porcelain Body Developed from Rice Husk Ash (TECHNICAL NOTE)

For a developing country like Bangladesh, waste management is an important issue. Since it is a small over-populated country , strict government regulations regarding landfills is essential. Expansion of ceramic industries is considered to be one of the potential sectors for the economic growth of Bangladesh. However, raw material cost per unit production is the prime concern for industrialists...

Leaching Behaviour of a Glass Produced from a MSWI Bottom Ash

This paper is mainly focused on the characterisation of a glass material (GM) obtained from the thermal treatment of a bottom ash (BA) produced at the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) incineration plant of Valorsul. By melting the BA at 1400oC during 2 hours, and without using any chemical additives, a homogeneous black-coloured glass was obtained. The thermal and mechanical properties of this glass...

Size Distribution of Metals in Bottom Ash of Municipal Solid Waste Incinerators

Previous researches have examined the emission and management of heavy metals from municipal solid waste incinerations for compliances with regulations, and also, to address the concerns on various environmental issues. However, the size distribution of heavy metals in bottom ash has not been addressed to such extent yet. This study investigated the size distribution of bottom ash and also the ...
